2000s Fashion

The 2000s were a very iconic decade in terms of fashion and all the styles the decade had to offer. Down below are some guides on how to dress like it's the 2000s as well as some important information on subcultures and their fashion (many of which are music based, see the music page for more information). In general, low rise jeans (rise 7.5 inches or less, may or may not be paired with a whale tail), tank tops, crop tops, t-shirts (especially graphic tees and baby tees), shag bands, and sneakers remained popular throughout the decade. Navel piercings were also quite popular throughout the decade (though they are a highly anatomy dependent piercing and take up to a year to heal). As you can see in the images above, 2000s fashion was diverse and went above and beyond. It was a fun, cool, and experimental decade for fashion (in direct contrast to 2010s fashion which was pretty boring in comparision). Plus, you've gotta at least admit that low rise jeans, skirts, and shorts are pretty comfortable unlike the stupid high waisted crap you see in stores these days (at least as of when I am typing this in May 2024). <3

For an authentic 2000s wardrobe, visit your local thrift store, see what you can find on eBay, or even consider making your own clothing for that matter (you may have to adjust waistband patterns or lower the rise of existing clothing, though). Same thing goes with accessories.

Additionally, skinny eyebrows (usually plucked) were popular in the 2000s (something which was carried over from the 1990s). However, unlike 90s brows which were straight, 2000s brows had more of an arch to them. Just remember that plucking is permanent and that you'll have to live with skinny eyebrows for the rest of your life if you commit to regular plucking until they stop growing back at all, so be absolutely sure you want to do this before you take a pair of tweezers to your brows (especially if you're like me and do this on a routine basis). Shaving can be a good alternative if you're either not committed to keeping your brows nice and thin until the day you die or if you want to try them out first before making such a long term commitment.
