In the 2000s, piercings were quite a popular and fashionable way to express yourself. This was the decade known for belly button piercings as well as quite a few others. Many celebrities such as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton had one in the aughts.
Keep in mind, however, that navel piercings are a VERY anatomically dependent piercing and that typically, you must have an innie with a deep enough ridge to support the jewelry to get one (performing this piercing on an unsuitable anatomy increases the risk of migration and rejection, which surface piercings, such as navel piercings, are already more prone to compared to non surface piercings). They can also take up to 1 year to heal completely after getting it done. However, the long healing time is totally worth being able to wear some awesome jewelry once it's fully healed (I even have one myself as a matter of fact, along with other body piercings).
Some other piercings you may have come across in the 2000s include lip piercings (mostly with emo and scene kids), tongue piercings, nostril piercings, eyebrow piercings, nipple piercings, nape piercings (a surface bar or microdermals on the back of the neck) and hip piercings (which are basically either surface bars or a set of microdermals placed on each side of the abdomen near the pelvic bone). The 2000s were especially known in the piercing industry as being a pretty experimental time for piercings (especially so when it comes to surface piercings).
Although many piercers today seem to be hesitant to perform certain piercings (particularly so when it comes to hip piercings and the like), if you really want them even in spite of the high rejection risk, I'd recommend getting them anyways, as it's your body at the end of the day, plus some people's bodies seem to be more tolerant of piercings than others. Just be careful not to snag them on clothing or anything and cover them with bandages as needed and you'll be fine.
And of course, how could I forget about the classic ear piercings? Ear piercings remain a timeless classic whether you're getting your first lobes done or are more daring and willing to get a cool helix piercing (and other sorts of piercings on the ears).
